Stepping into the World of Photography – focus on Family Photography

In June 2021, I made the decision to make my love of photography not just something I shared while taking pictures of my family. I decided to step into the scary world of putting myself and my photography skills out there for everyone to see.

When I was 13, I received my very first camera for my birthday. Many rolls of film, awkward teenaged photoshoots, lots of self timer pictures and a couple different film and digital cameras later, Jeff (my husband) and I bought our first DSRL camera in 2015. We wanted to take better pictures of our upcoming trip to Europe than our phones or our camera at the time could take. We managed to capture some amazing shots on our trip.

Some of these we have been able to enlarge to quite big wall hangings in our house. We were able to use our on snapshots to display more of our vacations all over our house. We actually just got the last of these (Fontana di Trevi) made and hung in our bonus room.

Importance of memories – capture them all with a family photography shoot

I have always loved photos. Jeff can account to this fact. They mean so much to me. I think after my cancer diagnosis, they are even more important to me. I want to soak up every possible moment, capture all of the memories. You know, just in case something happens to me. If you are unfamiliar with my cancer journey, you can find more on that in my other blog posts. I would suggest starting here.

Since having our son, Luke, this feeling has reached new heights. Immortalizing as many memories for the future as I possibly can. As I started getting more and more familiar with my camera, the editing processes and the like, I wanted to share my love with others. I want to help others capture their memories and their lovely families.

If this is something you are maybe interested in, I would love to help you catch some glimpses of your life. Pictures of you and your love. Pictures of you and your whole family. Or maybe you are waiting for you newest addition to the family. Maternity and Newborn pictures give me so much joy to be a part of. Family photography, all aspects of it, are what I seem to be drawn to the most.

Shoot me a message! I would love to hear from you and work with you!
